The story

The Rebbe, Gold Sukkos.

The Rebbe in his tallis, holding the lulav and esrog. Gold shines through his tallis, his face and his hands. The Hebrew words behind him say that all of Israel are worthy to sit in one sukkah.

On Sukkos we hold four kinds together: the esrog, the lulav, the hadassim and the aravos. The Midrash says they are like four kinds of Jews. Some learn Torah, some do good deeds, some do both, and some do neither. Bound together, they are one. The Gemara says it about the sukkah too: all of Israel are worthy to sit in one sukkah. The Rebbe sent chassidim out to the street with a lulav and esrog, so every Jew could say the blessing on them. This painting holds that love, in gold.
